Extra School Activities
Sport is important in teaching children the vital lessons of working as a team, being supportive of each other, and coping with the emotional highs and lows of winning and losing. Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular ActivitiesA range of co-curricular and extra-curricular age and grade-appropriate activities are provided to create opportunities for learners to explore their talents and preferences maximally and to ensure the development of versatile and balanced youth. Open days are a wonderful opportunity for prospective parents and children to visit the school. During this time, teachers are available in their respective classrooms to speak to parents about their grades, the curriculum, and the school's high academic standards and answer any questions that they may have. We usually have them every last Saturday of the Month during the school days presented in the school Academic Calendar

At International Maarif School Burundi, we do understand that sport & culture is an important part of a child's time at school. Learners are encouraged to participate in at least one 'after school hours' extramural activity per week.

At International Maarif Schools of Burundi, education goes beyond the classroom. Our vibrant clubs program provides students with opportunities to explore their interests, develop practical skills, and grow into confident and responsible global citizens.
Clubs are an essential part of our holistic education approach, encouraging creativity, innovation, teamwork, and leadership among students from Primary, Secondary, and High School levels. Through active participation in club activities, students learn to collaborate, think critically, and apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.
Our school offers a variety of clubs designed to nurture different talents and passions among students. These include:
Science and Nature Club – Encouraging curiosity about the natural world through experiments, environmental awareness activities, and scientific
exploration.
Clubs at our school run from Monday to Thursday between 2:40 PM and 3:30 PM, allowing students to participate in meaningful extracurricular activities within a well-structured schedule. Each session lasts 50 minutes, providing adequate time for collaboration, project development, and skill-building.
All clubs are supervised and guided by dedicated teachers, ensuring that students receive mentorship and support while engaging in productive and enriching activities.
To enhance the quality of club activities, students have access to excellent school facilities, including:
• Modern science laboratories for experimentation and discovery
• Spacious sports fields for physical activities and team sports
• Advanced ICT laboratories for digital learning and innovation
• Creative art rooms for artistic expression
• Well-equipped music studios for musical exploration
These facilities provide students with the environment they need to transform ideas into practical achievements.
Students at International Maarif Schools of Burundi actively represent the school in various activities beyond the classroom. Club members frequently organize school events and represent the school in external engagements, showcasing the talents, discipline, and leadership skills nurtured through our clubs’ program.
Through these experiences, students develop confidence, responsibility, and the ability to positively contribute to their communities.
Building Future Leaders
Our clubs program reflects our commitment to developing well-rounded students who excel academically while cultivating creativity, leadership, and teamwork. By participating in clubs, students discover new passions, build meaningful friendships, and develop skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
At International Maarif Schools of Burundi, we believe that every student has unique potential, and our clubs’ program is one of the many ways we help them unlock it.
